DriversThe latest hardware drivers and software patches can frequently improve performance and fix problems. Check these sites for the latest drivers for your hardware. Sorted alphabetically. Please report broken links to webmaster@wireball.com.Note that BIOS (or firmware) flashing is risky, and should be left alone if everything is working all right, as it can render your hardware unusable (requiring it to be sent back to the manufacturer for repair). Be sure to use the correct flash update, as using the wrong update could render your hardware unusable, or worse. Last Updated: March 29, 2004 ABIT ABIT drivers, utilities, manuals, and BIOS updates. Adaptec Adaptec SCSI adapter (controller) card drivers. Grisoft AVG Anti-virus; an effective free anti-virus tool, with automatic updating. Also available for purchase at that site: a professional version with more features and priority updates. BootDisk.com Useful pre-made bootdisks, utilities, tweaks, patches, and upgrades. Some of the most useful stuff in existence. If you find anything useful, please donate to that page's author. Command Software For Command Antivirus products. Update your virus definition files (deffiles) here! goCyberlink.com PowerDVD program updates for improved performance, compatibility, or features. Linksys Linksys Ethernet (network) card drivers and info. Nvidia Nvidia-based graphics card drivers (e.g. GeForce, GeForce2, Elsa Gladiac, etc.). We recommend the Nvidia Detonator3 or later drivers for maximum performance, rather than graphics card manufacturer-supplied drivers. PioneerUSA.com Pioneer DVD drive firmware updates, etc. SoundBlaster.com SoundBlaster Live! and legacy sound card drivers and software. If installing, we recommend using the latest Live!Ware from this site, rather than from the driver CD included with the sound card. Otherwise, you might run into crashing problems (see the FAQ's). TDK VeloCD Support VeloCD CD-RW drive firmware updates, etc. VIA chipsets VIA motherboard chipset driver support (click on Hyperion at the top). Very important for optimal performance and stability on VIA chipset-based motherboards such as the ABIT KA7, KT7, and KT7-RAID. Older boards (such as the KT266 and earlier) may garner more performance from the original 4-in-1 drivers, rather than the new Hyperion drivers. For the 4-in-1 drivers, we strongly recommend installing only the AGP driver and the IRQ routing driver, under Windows 9x anyway.
